My Autobiographical Comic, SuperTab

Let's get this clear right off the bat...
I do not think of myself as a SUPERHERO!
But, since my life has been transformed by the grace of God,
I know that I have powers beyond myself.
So, from the point I spiritually transformed,
I put on a "red cape" of righteousness.
Here is my testimony...

He begins our life before we are even born!

Unfortunately, I had to make more space on my LostSock art teacher blog...

Prescription of Peace

I recently got a new prescription for my eye wear.
When I finally got my new cat's eye glasses in, I was amazed at what I was missing.

I had glasses before, but they were giving me headaches. So, I figured it was time to start new.
My vision was so much clearer afterwards! I could see faces, colors, edges, and life in general more clearly.
I recently went through the same experience figuratively as well.
I had gone through a situation in my life that put me in the dumps.
I felt alone, in fear, rejected, and unclear.
I went through a lot of questioning and it in turn, the answers drew me even closer to God than I was before.
It made me realize that God's creation itself will let us down. It is temporarily ours.
The only thing that is forever it the Creator himself.

2 Corinthians 4:18, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

But, just because He is the only one we can truly trust, doesn't mean that we have to shut down to the world.
God doesn't want us to hide under a rock with Him and wait to die.
While we are alive, we have to live for Him.
We cannot be a hermit full of hate and a reflection of Christ at the same time.

Hebrews 12:14–15 "Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many."

We still have to live and love. Forgiveness is a big part of that. If we just dump people that hurt us...

then we will eventually live a sad life alone.

And not to mention, God commands us to forgive!
Matthew 6:15 "But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."
To get through this time... i use my art to heal me.
See more of my art I created to heal here...

As a result of this new vision... I created this art with the poem below...

Vision of Peace
by Tabitha Seaton

I have in my eyes an image of peace.
In my life I am taking a new lease.
I choose to give the benefit of the doubt as
I fill my cup half full from my hopeful waterspout.
Some may think rainbows of hope are naive,
but I have made a decision to believe.
Since my sight has changed with my new pair of glasses,
I don't see the same as the populous masses.
I focus on seeing differently than those around me,
Focusing on the things that praise joyfully.
I choose to see the colorful side,
with a stronger force driving while I'm along for the ride.
These glasses were prescribed when my eyes were at their weakest,
They revealed promise to me when my world was it's bleakest.
I have witnessed life on the other side of the glass,
I have chosen to let that existence pass.
I lived in the world of suspicion and fear
for an entire wasted year.
That side is out of focus and blurred with doubt,
I despise what that side is all about.
But it's hard to appreciate the calm and serene
Without once walking through the destructive scene
I could let fear soak in, run, and hide...
let destruction eat me inside.
I could easily remove the spectacles I wear
and consciously decide not to care.
But, I prefer to see the peaceful side of the lens,
on this my hope depends.
This side where my home stands strong
all the day long.
Where no consuming fire can crumble
the song of hope that I mumble,
Where I can dance like a child on the green
not afraid to be seen.
I trust, hope, believe
and blessings I receive.
I recommend a new prescription to you,
if you are seeing grey skies instead of blue.
I will gladly share the source of my vision
or let you know the root of my decision.
But you have to put it on everyday
or else your vision will slowly slip away.

I just thought it would be fun to share what the drawing looked like before the neutral background.
I used a Crayola Colored Pencil 50 pack to add the color.
May you be blessed by my work.
It is a blessing to create for my Creator!

Braque and Picasso's "Two Cubist Musicians"

Cubism was intended as an art movement by George Braque and Pablo Picasso. These 2 artist were great friends that shared all of their art ideas with each other. They worked side by side as a Cubism team. Cubism was intended to take objects and break them down into simpler and flatter shapes. Because of this, the end result sometimes looked like a painting seen through broken glasses. Each little fragment contained value...

Learning Value

Cubism Still-Life

Art students at Mineola Middle school have been learning and practicing value. A good value scale should have a wide range of values (darkest to lightest) that gradually glide from one to the next. There should be no obvious break in the values. This technique is hard to do and requires great patience. The students below have mastered the technique. Each one creatively broke up a plain paper surface into fragments of gradual value using colored pencils.
